We are about 2 months out from 2024 and this is kind of one of those “Finish Strong” messages but in my own way! I thought about calling this resetting for the year but that would imply I did these things well before. Instead this is a “How I’m restructuring my routines”. But yea, let’s get into it…
My goal this year is to start early with getting things together for the new year. We have to get back into work routines, going to the gym & all that in January, that’s already overwhelming for me. I decided to just take the quarter to try things out then in the new year I have set routines I can just focus on getting back to.
Here’s 4 things I am working on this last quarter to kind of ‘whip myself into shape’ for the new year:
Bedtime Routine
When I do a bedtime routine or rather when I formally put myself to bed, I sleep so good! I have mastered my morning routine and it’s time I get into the same vibe at night. So this is just something that I need to figure out how I can sustain a routine consistently. Here’s what I’ve been trying:
- A nighttime tea & snack - right now I am enjoying a mix of peach tranquility, raspberry leaf tea & mango ginger tea with honey! These together really help to relax my body and get me centered for bed.
- Journaling & Prayer Session - my anxiety sometimes strikes up at night and I often spiral at bedtime sometimes so a quick writing sesh normally helps
- Shower/Skincare - trying to remember to do nighttime skincare!
- No phone after 10:30 pm - major work in progress! Tik Tok is so funny it’s hard to put it down but I normally stop talking/texting people at 10:30 pm.

Weekly Board Reset
If you’re new here, I used to keep a weekly dashboard in my living room to help me keep up with new habits, plans & etc. I didn’t keep up with it during the summer so I am on a mission to restructure how I use the board to make it a more sustainable routine.
I normally use it to track going to the gym, taking my vitamins, morning prayer & also to keep up with the “after-work” activities.
Creative Work Routine
Since my job is using a lot of my creativity on the daily. I often am out of steam for my own things at the end of the day. So I am working on a work routine for my own projects that won’t have me working all the time & gives me time to gain inspiration. Not sure yet the how of this quite yet.
Keeping food in the house
Being a single girl, this really is hard but it’s an absolute must! Especially with sudden bouts of anxiety, I need to have consistent food available so I don’t end up not eating.
Lately I have been picking a few options for breakfast lunch & dinner and purchasing the ingredients for those things. Meal prep doesn’t really work for me cause I don’t care to cook but keeping options that I can quickly make if I want it has been working! I am also not wasting food either!!!
What routines do you need to rethink before the new year?!
